About Us

Helping Hands for Refugees and Disabled (HHfRD) is a non-profit organisation run by skilled volunteers dedicated to helping socially-disadvantaged people and groups, as well as improving the quality of life and sustaining healthy communities. Our organisation is also run by disabled volunteers, we encourage older people and disabled people to join in our volunteering team. We promote equality and diversity, we welcome volunteers from all backgrounds.
Older volunteers are recruited to provide mentoring service and befriending to enable and empower vulnerable people, through this we all can become active citizens and role models in British Society.

Current boroughs we provide services to are: Newham, Barking & Dagenham, Redbridge and pan-London but services are depend on the availability of volunteers.

We can provide help by:

Assisting with information on financial hardship with free self-help information for people who, through lack of means, would otherwise be unable to obtain this.

Assisting with the education and training of those granted refugee status and their dependants.

Our aim is to allow socially disadvantaged people to develop new skills and to adapt within their new communities, helping them to

integrate positively within British society.

We are based in London, Newham, but we can provide online assistance and self-help information, as well as home visits across London and to other areas.
