About volunteering for HHfRD (in Bengali)

Helping Hands for Refugees and Disabled (HHfRD) is run solely by volunteers, and receives no public or private funding. Therefore we rely on the generosity of volunteers from across London, who give their time to allow us to provide our services to the people who need them.

One of our key aims is to develop the skills needed for our volunteers and for those don’t have any level 2 qualifications, we can arrange with Train to Gain organisations to gain level 2 NVQ in  Advice and Guidance, Team Leading, Management etc.

We are looking for partnerships with similar organisations who are  interested in offering the  same qualifications to their volunteers, in order to offer this training at their meeting rooms or venues.

As we don’t  have a space to host the trainer and trainees at a suitable venue, we need the help of a Newham or London based organisation for this. If you can help, please contact us by clicking here.

Our Honorary Member, Tom Drywood, is delivering a “Certificate in Community Volunteering” Level 2, ASDAN accredited certificate course by distance learning  from Bristol College. Anyone interested in volunteering with us who has unemployed status (eligibility criteria applies) can apply with us, to follow this valuable course under our supervision and guidance to gain this accredited qualification.

We also refer our volunteers to study the “Certificate in Interpersonal Skills for Volunteers” at the University of Wales, Lampeter (Distance Learning) to improve their interpersonal skills to provide an excellent service to our service users.

We are currently looking for volunteers from any part of the world, who can act as translators and allow us to offer a free online translation service.

We now provide free basic IT skills, using one-to-one training for elderly and disabled housebond people
living in Newham, Barking and Dagenham - we need volunteers to make home visits to teach IT also.
Please put
contact us at the usual addresses or fill in out volunteer registration form if you can help.

We also run a Mentoring Project. Please contact us if you are interested in becoming a Refugee Mentor.

There are also opportunities to become a volunteer 'Befriender' to isolated individuals. to see more information on this click here.

We also wish to provide an Online Befriending Service and also Online Mentoring, interested people please contact us.
